Kat learning to sew.....Kat's finished quilt

 

This is my niece Kat (Katherine) learning how to sew. I asked if she wanted to learn how to make a quilt and make one for herself and she very excitedly agreed. I took her out and let her pick out her own fabric and she chose various prints in black, gray, white & pink. She's doing a great job. Now we just need to find some time for her to finish it now that she's back in school and has started working as well.

Chantille's T-Shirt Quilt

This is a quilt I helped my niece Chantille make from all her old t-shirts. We used fleece for the backing. This quilt is very heavy and very warm.

Made in 2011.

 

Marcie's Quilt

 

This is a quilt I helped my niece Chantille make. She was going to be studying abroad in France and this quilt was to be a gift for her host family. We thought it would be an appropriate gift as the fabric was of all the US states, flowers and birds. Unfortunately for Chantille she ended up in a dorm instead of staying with a host family. Fortunately for her mother Marcie she ended up receiving the quilt for her birthday.

 This is a close up of the machine quilting which was done in a swirling leaf pattern.

Brandon's Construction Quilt

This quilt was given to Chantille's brother Joe's grilfriend's son Brandon (did you get that?). I had the quilt sitting around with nobody to give it to until Joe started seeing his current girlfriend who has a toddler. It was given to Brandon as a Christmas gift last year. From what I hear he loves it.

This is a close up of the fabric I used for the backing and the quilting. It reminded me of mud which I thought was appropriate for construction vehicles.

Flannel Puppy quilt

This is a flannel baby quilt I helped my sister Lee-Anne make for a friends baby shower. It is adorable. I almost didn't want to let her have it. I bought the pattern at JoAnn fabric. It had patterns for a couple other animals too. I know one was a kitten. I think the other may have been a teddy bear but I'm not positive.

Kerri's quilt

This is the first quilt I helped my sister make and it was intended as a gift for her mother-in-law but she decided to give it to a friend as a wedding shower gift instead. I purchased so much of this fabric to make a quilt for my mother that there was more than enough to make this quilt and I still have yards of fabric left. The quilt is hanging sideways on the clothesline.

This is what the back looks like. It was machine quilted in a paisley design.

 

Peggy's Military Quilt

 

This is the fabric I chose to make a quilt for my best friend Peggy who has retired from the military. I went to visit her in Oklahoma in May and this was a surprise gift for her.
