Tony & Muriel's Quilts

This is the second quilt I helped my sister Lee-Anne make that was intended for her mother-in-law but it also ended up going to someone else. My brother Glen gave it to his best friends mother Muriel for Christmas after my sister decided she didn't like it for her mother-in-law.  :)

Since my brother was giving a quilt to Muriel it was only fair to give one to her husband Tony so this quilt was made by me with left over scraps from the quilt above and I swapped the blue/turquoise fabric with a tan fabric and my brother gave it to Tony for Christmas.

Chantille's Quilt

This quilt was made for my niece Tilly (Chantille). I love red, white and blue fabrics and fell in love with these prints.  I used the same pattern that I used for Glen and Lee-Anne's quilts which was originally a baby quilt design that I made bigger and added multiple borders and or corner blocks to.

This is a close up of the long arm quilting. It was called daisies all over or daisies galore I think.

This is the fabric I chose for the backing.

Katherine's Quilt

This is the quilt I made for my niece Kat (Katherine). I chose the black fabric with different little prints in rainbow colors. It reminded me of fabric from when I was a kid.
This quilt was quilted with glow-in-the-dark thread. When the quilt is exposed to light for a little while it will then glow when the lights are out. It's pretty neat. It freaked me out the first time I saw it. The first time Kat noticed it glowing she had to call me because she was so excited. If you ever make a quilt for a child/teen try it out. They will love it.

I used a solid pink cotton for the backing and this is a close up of the long arm quilting. (Included in photo is Kat's hair stuck to the quilt....didn't notice that when I took the picture).

Lydia's Quilt

This quilt was made for my sister Lydia. She likes things with bling so I picked fabrics that had some glitter/shimmer to them.

And the border.

I chose a solid pink cotton for the backing and it was long arm quilted in a feathers all over pattern.

Logan's Quilt

This quilt was made for my nephew Logan. He plays the piano and the saxaphone and also takes ballroom dance lessons. I thought the musical theme was perfect for his quilt.

Dylan's Celtic's Quilt

This quilt was made for my nephew Dylan. He's a huge fan of basketball and loves the Celtics. I fussy cut some squares from a Celtic print fabric and alternated between green and white blocks of a shamrock print fabric. I used a basketball print for a small inner border. Dylan is over 6' tall so his quilt is huge.

Charlie's Big Green Quilt

This quilt was made for my brother Charlie. He's an outdoorsy person so I chose shades of green for his quilt with brown for the sashing. I fell in love with his quilt because green is my favorite color. I had this quilt all sewn together and when I laid it out on the bed to see how it looked I immediately noticed right in the middle of the quilt one of the dark green blocks was in the wrong place and didn't match up with the others to make the dark green square. I had to rip out that block and sew it back in the right way.

Glen's Skull Quilt

This quilt was made for my brother Glen. He's 6' tall so this quilt is big. My brother was so funny when I was making this quilt. He knew I was making it for him and insisted it was no big deal, after all what do guys care about quilts. Well, let me tell you he called me almost every day asking me if his quilt was done yet and even asked me if I could make him matching pillow cases which I did of course. He loves this quilt and is so afraid that it will get ruined by the dog so he still has it in the bag I gave it to him in.  :)

This is a close up of the machine quilting. It's a little hard to see but it looks like wheels spinning with spikes on them.
